R3C at the XLVII AISRe Annual Scientific Conference: advancing territorial resilience and multi-risk governance
From 24 to 26 June 2026, the Responsible Risk Resilience Centre – R3C participated in the XLVII Annual Scientific Conference of the Italian Association of Regional Science – AISRe, held in Florence. Entitled “Regions Between Innovation and Sustainability: The Challenges for Development Policies”, the conference brought together researchers and experts to discuss the economic, social and environmental transformations affecting regions and local communities.
R3C contributed through an organised session and several scientific presentations involving Prof. Micaela Demichela, Prof. Grazia Brunetta, Prof. Angioletta Voghera, Dr David Javier Castro Rodriguez and Dr Danial Mohabat Doost, together with Prof. Sandro Danesi.
The organised session, SO.52 – “Territorial Resilience and Sustainable Local Development: Multi-risk Management Strategies for Businesses, Public Administrations and Communities”, was held on 25 June and chaired by Prof. Micaela Demichela. It provided an interdisciplinary space for discussing how multi-risk approaches can support businesses, public administrations and communities in understanding vulnerabilities, managing interconnected risks and strengthening territorial resilience.
The contributions addressed complementary dimensions of resilience, ranging from the management and territorial assessment of NaTech risks to vulnerability-informed spatial planning, public participation and multi-risk governance. Together, they highlighted the importance of integrating technical risk assessment, spatial knowledge, governance capacities and community perspectives into strategies for sustainable and resilient local development.
