Il saggio propone lo studio delle fonti documentarie e materiali relative alla struttura insediat...iva del borgo di Caramagna, al fine di discutere le fasi medievali di impianto e – soprattutto – i processi di trasformazione, alla luce del dibattito storiografico sui centri di fondazione nelle campagne del basso medioevo. La rilettura dei documenti e l’interpretazione regressiva delle mappe storiche di età moderna consentono di riconoscere l’applicazione di un modello di impianto a crociera, esito di un’iniziativa riferibile all’accordo del 1266 tra la comunità e la signoria monastica. I processi di edificazione di lunga durata e il rapporto con il contesto definiscono i caratteri delle trasformazioni successive dei tessuti del borgo, condizionati anche dalla riplasmazione dei luoghi del potere signorile, religioso e civico.
The essay offers the study of documentary and material sources relating to the settlement structure of the medieval village of Caramagna, in order to recognize the phases of planting and - above all - the transformation processes, in the light of the historiographical debate about new foundations in the countryside during lower Middle Ages. The re-reading of the documents and the regressive interpretation of modern historical maps make it possible to recognize the use of a cross model, interpreted as the result of an initiative referable to the agreement between the community and the monastic lordship in 1266. Building processes and the relationship with the context define the characteristics of the subsequent transformations of the fabrics of the village, conditioned by the reshaping of the places of seigniorial, religious, and civic powers.
