Video Processing Techniques for the Contactless Investigation of Large Oscillations

The experimental acquisition of large vibrations presents various technical difficulties. Especially in the case of geometric nonlinearities, dealing with very flexible, very light structures causes minimal variations in mass or stiffness to affect severely the dynamical response. Thus, sensors' added masses change the behaviour of the structure with respect to the unloaded condition.

Shear effects on deflections

Serviceability limit states are essential for appropriate function and durability of concrete structures. The attention is paid especially to the stress limitation, crack width analysis and deflection analysis. The document provides supplementary information to the fib Model Code 2010 (MC2010), where a limited space did not allow for a detailed description of individual procedures. The principles used in MC2010 in chapter 7.6 are explained in detail within this document.

Simplified cracking analysis of RC ties taking account of the effect of secondary cracks

A simplified model based on the assumption that bond stresses are linearly distributed along the ...transmission length is here set up to study the cracking behaviour of an RC tie subjected to monotonic loading, taking into account the effects of the so-called Goto cracks, or internal secondary cracks.

An Empirical Approach to Workload and Human Capability Assessment in a Manufacturing Plant

The Human Factors contribution in the scope of the industrial process optimization presented in t...his case study had to deal with considerations regarding the physical and mental workload requirements of different workstations and the capabilities of the operators assigned to them. The scope was to provide the industrial management with a better way to allocate human resources to tasks requiring different operational skills.
