The essay highlights some crux of history and criticism of architecture concerning the destinies of underused, decommissioned and deconsecrated churches. The interpretation proposed in the paper follows a long-term processual perspective: the continued adaptivity of every Christian architecture is a founding element of the history of Christian architecture, an expression of communities, liturgies and cultures necessarily in transformation.

During the last decade, the concept of urban resilience has been increasingly implemented in urban planning, with the main aim to design urban development strategies. Urban resilience is a multi-dimensional and dynamic concept. When applied to urban planning, it consists of studying cities as complex socio-economic systems. Municipalities are currently working to undertake appropriate actions to enrich the resilience of cities. Moreover, several difficulties concern the evaluation of the impacts over time of the strategies designed to enhance urban resilience.

Nowadays, greenhouse gas emissions continue to increase with the consequent climate changes. Energy consumption of buildings strongly affects atmospheric pollution, therefore for a sustainable development it is necessary to adopt energy efficiency policies combined with low-carbon technologies. In particular, the use of district heating (DH) has environmental and economic advantages in energy production and distribution for space heating consumption.

Quest’anno, vista l’emergenza sanitaria, si è resa necessaria una attenta rilettura in chiave di “Green Recovery” e di contributo alla ripartenza economica del Paese.

The Italian technical standard of construction (NTC-2018) defines the standards for designing, building and testing all kinds of constructions, considering their performances in terms of mechanical resistance, stability and durability. These standards give us the general safety criteria, stating that the effect of actions and material characteristics must be included in the design. Moreover, NTC-2018 transposes requirements suggested in the EN Eurocodes (EN 1990 - EN 1999).

Territorial imbalances between catalysts of development and lagging areas are raising concerns in the majority of European regions. The divide between main urban nodes and marginal territories poses serious development challenges.

The present contribution attempts to re-conceptualize propaganda drawing from a classical approach (Herman & Chomsky, 2010) and thanks to more recent contributions developed in the context of critical internet studies (Fuchs, 2012; Morozov, 2011). The global spread of social media in particular is debated as the main factor influencing the contemporary forms of propaganda.

Climate change, environmental impact and the limited natural resources urge scientific research and novel technical solutions. The monograph series Green Energy and Technology serves as a publishing platform for scientific and technological approaches to “green”—i.e. environmentally friendly and sustainable—technologies. While a focus lies on energy and power supply, it also covers "green" solutions in industrial engineering and engineering design.

Is it possible to energise the reuse of urban abandoned spaces with low financial capital investment? Addressing this question requires a normative and cultural change, where the rules are less focused on the material processes of producing space and more aimed at fostering the construction of relationships. The reality of several European cities shows how traditional forms of stimulating urban renewal – with respect to the financing of operations, how to design and build, and urban planning legislation – no longer work.
